Dear friends,
I hope this letter finds you in good health. As
you know, the main focus of my practice is wellness and prevention. This is the only way to decrease, reverse
and even stop the relentless chronic illnesses that affect millions of Americans, and even you. Over the
past 16 years of my practice, first as a gastroenterologist performing thousands of endoscopic procedures, and more recently
general internal medicine, it has become apparent to me that the most effective tool to prevent disease and promote health
is to focus on lifestyle. Specifically, how nutrition and fitness can make you healthier. That new field
of medicine is called Lifestyle Medicine.
It
is because of my deep-rooted belief in the effects of lifestyle on your health that I have decided to close my practice and
pursue Lifestyle Medicine beginning in January 2012. At that time I will no longer take care of patients
in the traditional fashion and you may need to transfer your care to another general internist. Unfortunately,
insurance companies, including Medicare cover mainly sick care and disease management and they do not adequately pay for services
that focus on prevention of disease.
Because of the excessive govenment controls and limitations placed upon
physcians by Medicare and insurance companies I have decided to completely retire my practice and I am not accepting any patients
at this time.
It has been my honor to take care of you
and no matter what you choose I wish you good health.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Corey Howard, MD, FACP
